Day Ketterer adds attorneys in Hudson, Canton offices

HUDSON––Thomas C. Holmes and Jilliann L. Armstrong have joined Day Ketterer in Hudson and Canton respectively.
Holmes has joined Day Ketterer’s Hudson office as a member in the Education Law Practice Group. Holmes has 15 years experience representing public sector clients, particularly schools, in various legal matters.
“Tom Holmes has a significant practice and strong statewide reputation in education law,” said Robert E. Roland, Day Ketterer managing partner. “He brings in-depth experience and knowledge to the Day Ketterer school law team, which is well known for providing solutions to the complex legal issues schools face every day. Tom will enhance our attorneys’ ability to work as a team with schools throughout Ohio.”

Holmes has represented public school districts, educational service centers, and community schools in various student, labor, employment and contractual issues. Holmes also has advised public entities in collective bargaining agreements, strike preparation and management, workers’ compensation matters, construction and real estate matters, and public records and open meetings laws.
A skilled litigator, Holmes has served as lead counsel in every aspect of the litigation process, participating in hearings, trials and appeals before Ohio trial and appellate courts and the Ohio Supreme Court.
Prior to joining Day Ketterer, Holmes was a partner with Pepple & Waggoner. He has a juris doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Holmes is a resident of Aurora.
Armstrong is an associate in Day Ketterer’s Canton office, focusing on business law, real estate and family law. Armstrong advises businesses of all sizes, from single entrepreneurs to well-established large corporations, regarding corporate law, entity selection, mergers and acquisitions, business succession, commercial real estate transactions, financing matters, and contracts. In family law, she represents clients in many aspects of domestic relations, including divorces and dissolutions and child custody issues.
“Jilliann Armstrong has solid experience in both business law and family law,” said Roland. “Due to her strong involvement in Tuscarawas County, she will enable Day Ketterer to expand our relationships with clients to the south.”
Armstrong currently serves as village solicitor of Bolivar. She joined Day Ketterer from Fitzpatrick, Zimmerman & Rose Co. and began her legal career as a summer associate with Pircher, Nichols and Meeks, a Chicago real estate firm. Her juris doctor is from Northwestern University School of Law. She lives in Dover.
